Here is a fun project to play with your kids! When I was a little girl in Sunday School, one of the teachers made this for us. I had to figure out how to make it again for my daughter. I don’t have a name for it so I asked my 5 year old what it should be called and well, we now call it “Melties” or “Melties Goop”. It’s also a great tool to teach your kids about liquids and solids. This goop stuff is quite easy to make and takes no time at all! Here is what you need:
2/3 cups cornstarch
1 teaspoon Borax
2/3 cups hot water
Instructions: In a bowl pour out the cornstarch and then add the borax. Mix that powder combo together and then add your hot water. Mix it well. The mixture will be thick and hard so I would suggest using your hands or a fork. If it’s too powdery then add a tiny bit of water, if it’s too watery then add a little bit more cornstarch. You can tell that it’s done by playing with it. If left alone, it’ll look like melted cream of sorts. If you touch it, it’ll firm up.
FUN! You can roll up a ball and feel it as a firm substance. Then put the ball down onto the plate and watch it slowly melt back into a liquid state. We played for an hour and a half with this. Enjoy!
